Once upon a time, there lived a very sensitive child named Elizabeth. Rather than sleeping
on a pea piled high with mattresses to prove her sensitivity, she took up songwriting.
Each day after school, this shy girl would rush home to play piano and sing before her
parents returned from work.
When she came of age, Elizabeth moved away from her homeland of Ottawa, Ontario to the magical
land of Montreal, Quebec. There she studied the music of the old masters, and in 2004 earned a
degree from McGill University.
While learning classical techniques in piano, voice, and composition, Elizabeth remained devoted
to pop music in the style of her idols: Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Sarah McLachlan. After hearing
renowned Canadian composer R. Murray Schaffer condemn the entire genre of pop music, Elizabeth's
conviction to make worthwhile pop grew.
In early 2006 she released a three song mini-CD called Handmaden to be sold in art vending
machines around Montreal. Later that year she recorded ten songs at the Treatment Room, three of
which can be heard on this site.
Although she employs a variety of musicians on her recordings, Elizabeth strongly identifies as
a solo performer. She enjoys molesting pianos by plucking or strumming their strings in order to
add visual and sonic interest to her live shows. Over the past few years she has performed at the
Art Matters Festival, The Montreal Fringe Festival, and smaller venues such as The Yellow Door,
Depanneur Cafe, Avant-Garde Bar (Ottawa) and Cameron House (Toronto).
